True colours of friendship

True colours of friendship - Joseph Bohan

When you ask a friend for a favour you expect to receive help. The moment your request leaves your lips and travels towards his ears, you would think that he might give it a try and assist you with your request. You would think that he would react or do what you would be doing for him in case he would be asking you for a favour.

You certainly don’t expect him to snap back at you nor to tell you that you should manage your own problems by yourself. I bet that is not the version of “help” you would have expected to get form one of the persons that you called a friend.

Now, don’t think that I am the type of guy who always bugs his friends asking for favors. No! I rarely ask for something because I am used to being independent and I hate to rely on others specifically for situations like this one that just happened.

Everyone has ups and downs, everyone has problems. Life is not easy for any of us. I am fully aware of that. I do my best not to be a burden for anyone around me and support them as much as I can. I have always taken an extra step to help my friends. I went out of my comfort zone in order to be there for them, to be their safety net when they dove like idiots without thinking about the consequences of their actions.

It turns out that the idiot was me. I am the fool who actually believe that I had friends, when I was just a disposable acquaintance to them. I was good to be used and abused. I never said anything to any of them when they raided my fridge or moved in without asking after having a huge fight with their spouses. All I cared was for them to be happy with who they were.

I guess you can not help someone who doesn't want to be help. Apparently you can not fight self-destruction with kindness. My bad!

Anyway, long story short, I am moving in two days because I’ll get in a Dallas acting class. Also, my lease expired last year and like an idiot I did not renew it. Thus I needed one of my friends who had a truck to help me move some of my stuff to the new place. I had to go look for a truck rental company and rent one for a day, because my so called friends told me I had to figure this one out on my own.
